University of Washington
Was elected the 2007-08 president of Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Council (WSAAC) by his peers from all 23 sports at the University of Washington...two-time team captain and two-time Pac-10 All-Academic...enters senior season with 64 career singles wins and 59 doubles wins, just outside of the Husky top 10 lists...was 8-3 in singles and 5-3 in doubles during the fall season...strong fall highlighted by reaching the finals of the ITA Northwest Regionals, losing in a third-set tiebreak to Stanford's Richard Wire.

2006-2007 (Junior): One of three Husky team captains for the 2007 season...earned a singles ranking of No. 122 on March 6...was second on team with 24 singles wins and tied for lead with 22 doubles wins...had team best 16 wins in dual matches and was a perfect 14-0 at home...started the season 16-2...had three streaks of five or more wins in a row...was 1-5 versus ranked foes (lone win against No. 92 Sinisa Markovic of Texas Tech)...was 4-2 at No. 2 singles, 12-5 at No. 3...started doubles season paired with Alex Slovic and playing No. 1...duo went 4-2...teamed with Derek Drabble at No. 3 and went 10-4 in dual matches, 17-6 overall...pair won Pac-10 Invitational Tournament and finished the season with a nine match win streak...won his first collegiate singles title during the fall at the Bronco Classic in Santa Clara, Calif...was 6-1 in singles action overall during the fall...also went 4-2 in doubles action, including advancing to the semifinals of the ITA West Regional with Derek Drabble.

2005-2006 (Sophomore): Was voted team team co-captain after a stellar Freshman season...selected as a member of the 2006 Pac-10 All-Academic Men's Tennis Team with a 3.65 GPA in Business Administration...compiled a 20-13 singles record and a 19-15 record in doubles play...went 7-2 on the season in three set matches...teamed up with Klaus Jank to win the Fresno State Bulldog Classic Doubles Championship...doubles semifinalist at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championship...provided the match clinching win against the Arizona State Sun Devils in the fifth singles position...reached the round of 16 at the Pac-10 Invitational Championship.

2004-2005 (Freshman): Made immediate impact on the team in first collegiate season...posted a singles record of 20-12, 13-9 in dual play...went 18-12 overall in doubles, teaming up with both Alex Slovic and Mike Ricks...solidified the No. 5 singles spot, going 5-5...also went 5-1 at No. 4 and 3-3 at No. 6... was 5-2 in three-set singles matches...4-1 in tie breakers...rattled off eight consecutive dual doubles victories with Slovic playing all three positions...the duo went 8-1...recorded 10-11 doubles record with Ricks...opened Husky career winning the Flight A Consolation Singles Championship at the Santa Clara Bronco Classic...reached the second round of the ITA Regionals before losing to Fresno State's Jakub Cech...tallied two wins in the consolation bracket at ITA Regionals... helped the Huskies defeat No. 11 Ohio State with a key victory in the fourth singles position, defeating Scott Green (6-3, 6-4)... clinched the Huskies' victory over 10th-ranked Stanford with a win in the No. 5 spot over Eric McKean (4-6, 6-4, 6-2)...reached the second round of the Pac-10 Championship Invitational singles bracket before falling to Dean Wallace of California (5-7, 6-4, 6-1).

Andreas Kuharszky...played five years under coach Karoly Gyorgy at Talentum Tenisz Centrum in Budapest, Hungary...helped team to three-straight second-place finishes (2002, 2003, 2004) in the Hungarian Team Championships...native of Zurich, Switzerland...parents are Zoltan and Andrea...has one brother, Christian (17)...father Zoltan was ranked No. 52 on the ATP Tour and played against Husky Head Coach Matt Anger at Wimbledon in 1985...enjoys skiing, sailing and biking...majoring in finance.

"He's in the top-10 already in career singles wins, doubles wins, combined wins (after the fall). He's known on the team as 'Clinch Eastwood' for all the matches he's clinched previously. He's a team guy; he's at his best in the team matches, when the matches are close. There were three keys for us, and one of them was winning those close matches, so we will really lean on Andy for that, because he's been there and done that."

What do you love most about tennis?: Tennis is very complex, so many little things count.

Favorite band/singer and why?: Pink Floyd, because it goes deep inside. But it is not music to listen to every day.

Favorite non-tennis UW athlete to watch: I like to watch the whole volleyball team play.

What UW class has taught you the most?: Business Communications 301 with Buckner. Great class!

What movie do you wish you could have starred in, and what part would you play?: I would be a pilot in Top Gun or Star Wars

What movie scene gets you a little choked up?: When Mufasa dies in The Lion King.

When and where did you first play tennis?: I don't remember when but it was with my dad in Switzerland.

Craziest ambition?: I want to climb Mt. Rainier and fly around the world with my own airplane.

When you fix dinner, what are you making?: I am not fixing dinner.

Historical figure you'd most like to meet, and first question you'd ask him/her?: I'd ask Leonardo da Vinci, "How do you know everything already?"

Favorite pet you have or had growing up?: Never had a pet.

If you could play a match vs. anyone, who would it be?: I would play Rafael Nadal in the French Open final and I would beat him serving and volleying the whole match.
