In keeping with the tradition of former Huskies on the women's rowing staff, Erin O'Connell completes the coaching lineup at Washington. A former coxswain for the Huskies, she is now in her sixth season as the women's varsity assistant coach. A product of the Husky rowing program, O'Connell has helped nurture the standard of excellence as a coach.

O'Connell is largely responsible for coaching Washington's varsity four, which raced to three consecutive Pac-10 Conference championships between 1999-2001. She assists head coach Jan Harville in the day-to-day operations of the program and is also responsible for coordinating the annual Husky Invitational each March.

O'Connell had a impressive career as a coxswain for the Huskies from 1993 to 1996. As a freshman, she led her team to an undefeated season and the Pac-10 title. She won the conference title again, as cox of the varsity four, as a sophomore. As a junior, O'Connell coxed the junior varsity eight which earned a bronze medal at the Collegiate National Championships.

As a senior in 1996, O'Connell capped her career with another Pac-10 title as a part of the varsity eight and went on to finish fourth in the grand final at the national championships. Earlier in the year, she directed the varsity eight to its fifth straight Windermere Cup victory. O'Connell was a team captain and one of four Washington rowers named to the Pac-10 All-Conference Team.

A native of San Francisco, Calif., O'Connell earned her bachelor's degree in English from Washington in 1996. She recently completed her master's degree in sports administration at Seattle Pacific University. O'Connell resides in Seattle.
