Husky Rowing Experience: 2000 (Sophomore): Rowed bow seat for the junior varsity eight and helped crew to bronze medal at IRA Championships ... finished second at Pac-10 Championships and won gold medal at San Diego Crew Classic ... also captured second straight JV Cascade Cup on Opening Day ... 2001 (Junior): Stroked the varsity eight that won a bronze medal at the IRA Championships ... stroked JV eight at Pac-10 Championships as crew took second ... helped JV win gold medals at Windermere Cup and San Diego Crew Classic.
National Team Experience: Competed on the U.S. lightweight national team in the straight four ... rowed bow seat and helped crew to a ninth place finish at 2001 World Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Personal: Son of Christina and Richard Ahlstrand ... has one sister, Jessica, who is a senior at Michigan State ... competed with the US Junior National team in 1998.
I chose Washington because: I wanted to be a part of the great rowing tradition.

My best race was: San Diego, 2000 when we beat up on Cal.
After I graduate, I plan to: Continue to row or travel.
