Husky Rowing Experience: 2000 (Freshman): Rowed seven seat in freshman eight ... helped lead UW to wins on Opening Day, at San Deigo Crew Classic and over Cal in the annual dual regatta ... crew finished second at Pac-10 Championships ... moved to four seat and helped UW win a silver medal at IRA Championships ... 2001 (Sophomore): Rowed bow seat in the junior varsity eight that won a silver medal at the IRA Championships ... two seat at Pac-10 Championships when crew won a silver medal ... stroked the varsity four that placed second at Cal dual.
Personal: Son of Georgean and Denis Smythe ... father attended Mt. St. Mary's College and is a nurseryman ... one younger brother, Trevor (18), who attends Calvin College ... two sisters, Amanda and Emily.
