Husky Rowing Experience: 2001 (Freshman)--Rowed five seat in the freshman eight that won a gold medal at IRAs, UW's first gold since 1997 ... also led Huskies to a gold medal at Pac-10s, UW's first gold by an eight since 1997 ... crew was undefeated in grand finals, also winning at Windermere Cup, Cal and OSU duals and at San Diego ... rowed seven seat for Cal dual and San Diego and five seat for Pac-10s.

2002 (Sophomore)--Rowed four seat in the JV boat that won a bronze at the IRAs and silver at Pac-10's ... helped Huskies to gold at the San Diego Crew Classic ... contributed to victories at Windermere Cup and the OSU and Wisconsin duals and second place at the Cal dual. 2003 (Junior)--Stroked the junior varsity eight all season ... led the Husky JVs to a victory in the Windermere Cup along with dual triumphs over California and Oregon State ... Garnered a pair of silver medals, placing second at the Pac-10 Championships and at the IRA Championships ... Joined the varsity eight boat for the trip to England, replacing Ante Kusurin who went to train with his national team ... Stroked the varsity to three straight match-race victories and the championship in the Ladies Challenge Plate competition at the prestigiuos Henley Regatta.

National Team Experience: Competed on the 1999 New Zealand Junior National Team.

Personal: Son of Holly and Alan Sawyer ... father is a yacht captain and mother is a cook ... has one older sister, Carrie (23), a hair dresser ... attended a year at Tamalpias High School in Marin, Calif. ... has received his private pilot license and multi-engine rating ... spent four years living on a boat and sailed from New Zealand to San Francisco and back.
