Husky Rowing Experience: 2005 (Junior)--Collected a gold medal in the open four at the IRA national championships ... rowed in the No. 3 seat of the varsity four that won the Pac-10 championship ... finished fourth in the men's pair at the summer nationals ... competed in UW's eight at The Great Race during September in New Zealand. 2004 (Sophomore)--Stroked the crew that won the varsity eight race at the Washington State dual ... competed in UW's second varsity four that finished second at the Windermere Cup. 2003 (Freshman)--Rowed in the freshman eight that placed fourth at the IRA Championships ... sat in the No. 2 seat for the crew that won the freshman eight event at the Windermere Cup.

Personal: Son of Sharon Oleksak and Sheldon Tyler ... father works at the Port of Camas and mother works at PGE ... has an older sister, Dr. Shannon Chua who rowed for Washington State and a younger sister, Melinda ... older brother, Andy, rowed at UW in the IRA championship varsity eight in 1997.

I chose Washington because: Rowing, location, family ties.
The best thing about Seattle is: Water.
My best race was: Oregon State Dual 2004. It was the 4-varsity race of a lifetime.
After I graduate, I plan to: Drive aimlessly around the country.
