Husky Rowers Head To Portland

Both squads return home next weekend for Pair Head, Head of the Lake competitons.



The men's crew squad
will take part in
its second regatta of
the fall season.

SEATTLE -- The Washington men's and women's rowing teams take part in the second regatta of the fall season as they travel down interstate 5 for the annual Portland Loop, Sat., Nov. 6. Racing begins at 8 a.m. on the Willamette River in Portland. Men's and women's varsity and junior varsity eights will compete against local Northwest area teams.

The Huskies host a pair of home races the following weekend, with the Pair Head taking place Sat., Nov. 13 and the Head of the Lake following on Sun., Nov. 14. Racing begins at 8 a.m. on the Montlake Cut.

Washington opens its spring, 2000 season March 25 with the annual Class Day Regatta. The Husky varsity men are coming off a third place finish at the 1999 IRA Championships while the UW women earned a third place team finish at the '99 NCAA Championships.
