Five Women Make Jump To Nationals On Big Night

Baylee Mires breaks 26-year-old school record at 800-meters to make her first NCAA trip.

The two-time Husky All-American enters her second season as a volunteer assistant working with Assistant Coach Raul Sheen and the sprints and hurdles group.

2010: Saved her best season and best meet for last, running a major career-best at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene to earn her first individual All-America honor in the 100-meter hurdles ... qualified for NCAAs as the 24th and final entry, then finished ninth in the semifinals in 13.18 seconds to earn All-America honors ... for comparison, her career-best time less than one month before NCAAs was 13.45 seconds, which she ran at the 2010 Pac-10 meet, taking fifth-place ... went on to place 18th at the U.S.A Championships in Des Moines, running 13.63 into a headwind in the prelims ... grabbed the 12th and final spot to nationals by lowering her PR to 13.37 seconds at the NCAA Championship West Prelims in Austin ... placed third at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in the 100m hurdles in 13.53 seconds ... also was fourth in the hurdles at the Pepsi Team Invite in 13.56 and was third at the Stanford Invitational in 13.65 seconds ... ran the lead-off leg on every single 4x100 and 4x400 relay UW ran outdoors, including both at Pac-10s ... 4x1 relay took eighth at Pac-10s and ran a season-best 46.26 in the prelims, while the 4x4 was sixth in 3:46.35, also a season-best ... did not have indoor eligibility remaining so she competed unattached in the 60-meter hurdles, including a 13th-place effort at the U.S. Indoor Championships in February, clocking 8.44 seconds ... ran a personal-best time of 8.38 seconds at the Husky Classic, placing third ... received the UW Athletic Scholar award presented by the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity.

2009: Earned her first All-America honor as the 400-meter leg on the team's distance medley relay, which finished eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships ... also ran on the DMR when it won the MPSF Championships, and at the UW Invitational when the foursome shattered the school record in a time of 11:05.80 ... was UW's top sprinter indoors at 60-meters, 200-meters, and the 60m hurdles ... ran a provisional NCAA qualifier in the 60m hurdles of 8.41 seconds in a win at the UW Open ... took second in the 60m hurdles at the MPSF Championships in 8.57 seconds ... won the 200m at the UW Last Chance Qualifier in a PR of 24.61 ... outdoors, led the team at 200-meters and the 100m hurdles, qualifying for West Regionals in the short hurdles where she placed ninth in the prelims, barely missing the final ... took ninth in the 100m hurdles at the Pac-10 Championships as well as both relays ... 4x100m relay ran a season-best 45.88 seconds at Pac-10's, the sixth-fastest in school history ... ran four events in the UW-WSU dual, winning the 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay, as the Huskies won by a third of a point ... won the 400m hurdles at the Oregon Relays in 1:01.11 ... ran a 200m lifetime-best of 24.52 at the Sun Angel Classic, which ranks 10th all-time at UW.

2008: Washington's top female sprinter, leading the team in the 100-meters, 200-meters, and all three hurdles events ... qualified for first career NCAA Championships both indoors and outdoors ... outdoors, reached NCAA's in the 100m hurdles, placing 21st overall in a time of 13.69 ... excelled at West Regionals, placing second overall in the 100m hurdles, and ran the second-fastest time in UW history (13.46) in the prelims ... placed fifth at the Pac-10 meet in the 400m hurdles in a PR of 59.52, which ranks 8th in school history ... also was eighth in the 400m hurdles at Regionals ... won the 100m hurdles in the UW-WSU dual meet and won the 400m hurdles at the Oregon Invitational ... indoors, ran the 400-meter leg on the distance medley relay, which qualified for NCAA Indoors and finished 11th overall ... part of the DMR at the MPSF Championships which took second in a school record time of 11:12.77 ... also finished 2nd at MPSFs in the 60m hurdles in a PR of 8.43 seconds, which was an NCAA Provisional mark ... also lowered personal best in the 400-meters, running 57.13 at the Husky Classic.

2007: One of UW's top sprinters and hurdlers indoors, but did not compete outdoors ... second on the team in the 60m hurdles with best time of 8.72 coming in the prelims at the Husky Classic ... won the 60m hurdles title at the UW Indoor Preview, running 8.88 ... ran the second leg on UW's top 4x400m relay indoors, which placed sixth at the MPSF Championships in 3:47.58, the seventh best mark in Husky history ... also placed eighth in the 60m hurdles at MPSFs, and 17th in the 200m ... also competed in the 300m and 400m.

2006: One of the Huskies' top competitors in all three hurdles events, and a regular on UW's 4x100m and 4x400m relays ... led both relays to sixth-place finishes at the 2006 Pac-10 meet ... also ran in the 400m hurdles at Pac-10s, placing 14th overall in the preliminary round ... earned a victory in her outdoor hurdles debut, at the UW Outdoor Preview ... was sixth in the 60m hurdles at the MPSF Indoor meet ... clocked a season-best 8.93 for the 60m hurdles at MPSFs, and recorded season-bests outdoors of 14.58 and 1:02.82 in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, respectively.
