2008-09: Competed at first career Pac-10 Track Championships, finishing 19th overall in the 1,500-meter run ... took second in the 1,500m at the UW-WSU dual meet in a PR of 3:50.67 ... won the 1,500-meters at the Ralph Vernacchia Meet ... indoors, lowered his mile PR by more than five seconds to 4:09.80 at the UW Last Chance Meet ... earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention ... did not compete during cross country.
2007-08: Redshirted his freshman season in cross country and track ... competed unattached in the 1500-meters at both UW outdoor home meets ... season-best 1500 time of 4:01.12 at the Ken Shannon Invitational.
High School and Personal: Born in Mogadishu, Somalia ... parents are Muraayad Xaashi and Ducaale Dubad ... has two brothers, Maxamuud Sh. Axmed and Maxamuud Ducaale ... moved to the U.S. in September of 2000 from Kenya where he lived from 1996-2000, prior to that lived in Somalia ... did not run cross country until junior year of high school, playing football during first two years ... was the second-place Greater St. Helens League finisher as a junior and senior, and also placed second at districts, and 31st at the 3A State Championships as a senior, earning All-State honors ... was league and district 800m champ as a junior, and placed 8th at the state meet, earning All-State track honors ... also placed 5th at state in the 4x400m relay in both 2005 and 2006 ... injured during senior track season ... won the 800m title at the 2006 Bob Shanner Invite ... also competed at the NewBalance Festival of Champs and the Jim Danner Invite in 2005.
