Kelly MacDonald enters her second season as an assistant coach at UW, working with UW's distance runners and coordinating Washington's recruiting efforts.
A 2002 graduate of Arizona State, MacDonald ranks seventh in U.S. history in the steeplechase with a career-best of 9:55.49, and is the ninth-fastest collegiate steepler of all-time.
While at Arizona State, MacDonald earned a reputation as one of the top distance runners in the nation, earning five All-America honors and three Pac-10 titles.
A native of Tualatin, Ore., MacDonald took third in the steeplechase and 5,000 meters at the 2001 NCAA Championships, and matched those finishes in the steeplechase final at the U.S. Senior National Championships on the same track two weeks later.
She was recognized in 2002 as ASU's Pac-10 Medal Winner, and earned ASU Athlete of the Year honors in 2001-02.
MacDonald, 25, currently resides in Seattle.
