One of the most improved runners in the state over the past year, going from 71st at the Washington State 4A Cross Country Championships as a junior to 9th at the 2010 meet as a senior, running 56-seconds faster over the same course ... was the runner-up at South Puget Sound League Sub-District cross country meet in fall of 2010 ... cut 13 seconds off his 1,600-meter PR from his sophomore to junior seasons on the track, and could make a similar drop this outdoor season ... qualified for West Central District finals at 1,600-meters and 3,200-meters as a junior.
Coach Metcalf On Simon
"Meron kind of came out of nowhere this fall, and finished top-10 at the Washington state championships. He's a huge Husky fan. He's excited to be a University of Washington athlete. I think he's completely untapped. At this point in his career I don't think he's run anything close to what he will run. He's got nice mechanics and he's proven his ability to run well in the fall. I think he adds great depth to our long distance guys."
