2001-02: Just a freshman, led all UW shot putters both indoors and out ... posted season-best outdoor mark of 51-4 1/2 in a victory at the season-ending Ken Foreman Invitational ... bookended his season with victories, having also captured the shot put at the season-opening Husky Classic ... in between, earned eight top-five finishes in 10 competitions ... competed three times in the discus, with a best of 132-1 at the Husky Classic ... also threw the hammer outdoors, going 136-7 in a fourth-place finish at the Oregon Dual ... indoors, acheived season-leading shot put mark of 51-2 1/4 at the UW Quad Classic ... was a top-10 finisher in all but two of 13 indoor competitions ... top individual placing indoors was second, first in the shot at the University Open, and duplicated in the weight throw at the Husky Scoring meet ... achieved top weight throw of the season at the UW Invitational in February, throwing 48-6 3/4, the second-best mark on the team in 2002.

High School and Personal: Born Mar. 6, 1983 in Duncan, British Columbia ... parents are Patricia and Bryan ... has an older brother, Derick, and an older sister, Laura ... is tops among juniors, fifth in all of Canada in the shot put ... was named Duncan, B.C.’s 2001 Sportsman of the Year ... took second in the shot put at the 2001 Canada Summer Games with a mark of 55-7 ... notched a pair of top-10 finishes in the shot (second) and the discus (10th) at the 2001 Canadian Junior Nationals in Calgary ... placed sixth in the shot in 2000 at the same event ... was champion in the shot put at the 2000 Canadian Juvenile National meet ... set the British Columbia high-school record in the shot put with personal-best mark of 58-3 1/4 ... top prep mark is just one foot shy of the 2001 NCAA provisional-qualifying standard ... will compete for Team Canada at the 2002 World Junior Track and Field Championships in Jamaica in July ... also an avid weightlifter, is currently ranked No. 2 among juniors nationally in the super heavyweight class ... also participated in basketball, volleyball, rugby, soccer and wrestling during his high school career ... interested in a career as an architect ... considered Indiana St., Michigan St. and Arizona St.
