Jeff James, who played on the Huskies team as a first baseman last season, returns to the UW this season as an undergraduate assistant coach.

James will assist the coaching staff in all aspects during practices and games.

James, a native of Bellevue, Wash., attended Newport High School, where he captained the Knights to the 2001 state title. He also played quarterback and kicked, earning all-league honors on the football team.

After high school, he first went to Cal Baptist, where he sat out the baseball season due to injury. From there, he spent the next two seasons at Bellevue Community College before tranferring to the UW.

James is the grandson of former Washington head football coach Don James, who coached at the UW from 1975 to 1992.
