Baseball Rained Out at Arizona
Trouble-plagued trip for the Huskies.

April 1, 1999

TUCSON, Ariz. - Todays scheduled Pac-10 baseball game between Washington and Arizona, slated for 7:00 p.m. MST tonight, has been postponed due to rain. The Huskies and Wildcats will make the game up Friday when they play a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. MST.

The rainout is just one part of a trying road trip for the Husky team. Wednesday evening, the Alaska Airlines plane that the Huskies were on en route to Phoenix was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing at Sea-Tac Airport after a mylar balloon was sucked into an engine shortly after takeoff. After a change of planes, the flight eventually left Seattle about three hours late.

The Washington mens tennis team, travelling to face Arizona State and Arizona, was also on the plane.

Thanks to various other delays and a bus ride to Tucson, the UW baseball team didnt arrive at its hotel until 4:15 a.m. early Thursday morning.

The first game of the doubleheader Friday will not air on radio, but the second game will be carried live on KSRB AM-1150. The three-game conference series is scheduled to wrap up Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. MST game, which will also air on KSRB.
