Built: 1927 | Renovations: 1999-2000 | Capacity: 10,000 As the home to the University of Washington men's and women's basketball, gymnastics and volleyball programs, the 10,000-seat Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion gives the Huskies one of the finest home court advantages on the west coast. The Husky men's basketball team has recorded an incredible .836 winning percentage at Alaska Airlines Arena since 2007. The intimate feel of the arena allows fans to truly become part of the action and creates an intimidating environment for visiting teams. The home of Husky women's hoops, Hec Ed is located on the Southeast section of campus, and the 130,000-square-foot building is bordered to the east by Lake Washington and by Montlake Boulevard to the west. Fans have been coming to a variety of events at Hec Ed since it was originally built in 1927. The Alaska Airlines Arena underwent major renovations in 1999 and 2000, including the addition of team meeting and video rooms and upgraded locker room facilities, transforming it into a first-class multi-dimensional complex while maintaining its classic presence. Alaska Airlines joined the University of Washington for a five-year naming partnership in January 2011. The Husky gymnastics team also calls the landmark Seattle sports venue home.
