2016-17 Basketball Season Ticket Renewal
Dave Nyland
Position: Volunteer Assistant, Throws
Hometown: Woodinville, Wash.
High School: Woodinville

Enters his second year as a volunteer assistant working with throws coach Reedus Thurmond and concentrating on the javelin, which has quickly become a major strength for the Huskies. Nyland was a three-time Pac-10 competitor in the javelin throw, and qualified for Regionals in 2008 but was unable to compete due to injury. A native of Woodinville, Wash., his personal-best javelin throw was an even 226-feet, set at the Pepsi Team Invite in 2008.

In 2010, in Nyland's first season as a volunteer, Husky javelin throwers Kyle Nielse and Joe Zimmerman placed third and fourth, respectively, at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors. Zimmerman won the U.S. Junior Championships and competed at Junior Worlds. Washington had three scorers in the javelin at Pac-10s, as freshman Jimmy Brookman also placed eighth and advanced to NCAA Prelims.
