SEATTLE - Freshman Troy Scott's two-run double in the bottom of the ninth capped a three-run rally as the Washington baseball team extended its winning streak to eight games with a dramatic 6-5 victory over Portland Saturday at Husky Ballpark.

The game was the second of the day for the Huskies (13-6), who earlier beat Utah Valley, 5-0. The Pilots fell to 14-10 with the loss.

Portland's Riley Henricks opened the top of the ninth with a homer into the visiting bullpen in left field, breaking a 3-3 tie. Later in the ninth, UP right fielder Danny Meier singled home another run to make it 5-3.

But in the bottom of ninth, after singles from Bradley Boyer and Kyle Conley to open the inning, Husky DH Ty Rasmussen doubled into the left-field corner, driving in Boyer. Scott, the Husky first baseman from Auburn, then lined a double up the middle through a drawn-in infield, plating Conley and pinch runner Brendan Gardner-Young for the win.

UP closer Matthew Lange, who came on to start the ninth, suffered the loss to fall to 3-3. Husky closer Brian Pearl (1-0), who got the last two outs in the top of the ninth, earned his first college win.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second as senior Andy Lentz tripled and scored on a sacrifice bunt from freshman Pierce Rankin.

However, the Pilots struck back in the top of the third as left fielder Bryant Kraus belted a two-run homer, his third of the season, to put Portland on top, 2-1.

Washington went back in front with two runs in the fifth. With two on and two out, Lentz laced a double into the right-field corner, scoring one. Left fielder Aaron Russell followed with an infield single that scored Troy Scott to put the Huskies in front, 3-2.

Once again, Portland had an answer. In the top of the sixth, the Pilots loaded the bases with one out. After a strikeout for the second out, Henricks drew a walk, forcing in a run to tie the score at 3-3.

Lentz finished the day 3-for-4 with a single, a double and a triple. Rasmussen and Scott both went 3-for-5.

After taking Easter Sunday off, the Huskies return to action with a three-game series vs. Hawaii-Hilo starting Monday. Next weekend, the Dawgs open Pac-10 Conference play at Oregon State.
