Washington JV Fifth At Winter Championships

Auburn, Wash. - Led by freshman Kellen Eakin's 9-over 153, the Washington JV team battled high winds, frigid temperatures and occasional showers to shoot a 631 and place fifth after two rounds at the Washington National Winter Championship. Eakin's effort placed him fourth, two strokes behind leader Shane Prante of St. Martin's. Oregon's JV team leads the field with a 618 headed into tomorrow's final round.

Eakin carded a 79 in the morning round before turning in a 74 in the afternoon session. Fellow freshman John Wise shot a 12-over 156 on the day - with an 80 and a 76 in the morning and afternoon, respectively - to place 12th. Sophomore Joe Panzeri (78 and 83) and senior Seth Yates (83 and 78) tied for 26th with a 17-over 161 for the day.

The Winter Championship continues tomorrow, with the third and final round set for a 7:30 a.m. start.
