WASHINGTON COACH June Daugherty:
GENERAL REMARKS: "I thought that we were able to do well on the offensive boards ourselves, but we were also able to hold them without an offensive board in the entire first half and I don't think that we have ever been able to do that. We had everyone boxing out and working hard inside the paint so that we don't give up those rebounds and that is something that we have just been practicing hard on, it paid off. I don't want to jinx ourselves, but we just have things going well for us right now and I think it was a real solid effort all the way around for our team."
ON GOOD SHOOTING: "Kayla Burt was telling Todd Turner that she was going to take over shooting responsibilities on the coaching staff. Since she has done that we have shot well, but whatever works, I'll take it. I think that we have put a lot of extra time into our shooting the last month or so and I would like to think that extra work is paying off."
ON GUARD PLAY: "The one thing that we have asked all of our guards to do is to stay more aggressive on the outside. One of the things that Kayla was always able to do was to come in off the bench and shoot a zone out and I think our guards are really trying to step up into that role. It seems like we are pretty comfortable doing that and we just need to keep it up. I think that we are still turning down a lot of good shots, but we will get better as we continue to give them their minutes."
ON PASSING UP GOOD SHOTS: "I think that we are still passing up easy shots and I think that is something that is uncharacteristic of our coaching style. It is something that you have to keep addressing in practice. I want them aggressive in practice and in the game, if you are open you better take the shot."
FORWARD Breanne Watson
On team rebounding:
"We knew that they were a bit undersized, and coming in we were stressing the offensive rebounds, crashing the boards, and boxing out and that translated to the stat sheet. I don't think we could have expected that but that was an awesome thing for us. Hopefully we can build on that this weekend."
GUARD Cheri Craddock
On career high in points:
"It feels good, very good. My teammates did a good job setting screens and finding me in open places so give a lot of credit to them."
On outside shooting:
"That's always something that I've liked to do. When I was younger, playing with guys, I didn't go to the hole to much and get hurt but I'd stand outside and shoot all day."
