5:16 AM: The team has arrived back at Wells Fargo Arena. The house music is pumping and both teams have just taken to the court to shake out the cobwebs and warm up. We're hoping for an awesome game tonight in Tempe.
The big news this afternoon came when the University announced Sara Mosiman was medically cleared to return to playing. Mo has such an indomitable spirit that it's great to see her hard work in rehab pay off. She's definitely worked hard to reach this point.
Otherwise, most of the afternoon was fairly uneventful. A few of the coaches, trainers and staff took to the pool, which is on the rooftop of the hotel. We might as well enjoy the good weather while we can, right? During lunch, the team dined on salads, soups, chicken marsala and winter vegetables. Then the team relaxed in their rooms, watching movies before it was time to make the short (and I mean short, like 3 minutes) bus ride over to Wells Fargo.
11:30 AM: We've decamped in Arizona. It's weird seeing such a brilliant sun after a typical winter in Seattle, but the team has already remarked several times at breakfast about taking advantage of the weather. One caveat: a team rule limits to the student-athletes to just 15 minutes of sun-bathing on game days. Too much exposure, obviously, can be dangerous and the coaches want to particularly careful before games.
The team is staying at the luxurious Mission Palm Hotel, where palm trees and an impressive fountain surround the hotel. Our temporary base is right on Mill Ave., the main student drag here at ASU, so the team has plenty of opportunities to shop this afternoon. They'll have to wait until after shootaround, which is currently underway at Wells Fargo Arena.
A reminder, tonight's game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Arizona. The station's talent and producer are on-hand watching shootaround.
