Two Husky crews will continue racing at the 2007 NCAA Championships tomorrow at Melton Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The second varsity eight and the varsity four both raced finished in third-place in their respective heats and will race again in Saturday's repechage events. Only the heat winners earned a bid into Sunday's Grand Finals, while the other 10 crews will race again on Saturday for spots in the grand and petite finals.

Washington's varsity eight was eliminated from competition today, after a fifth-place showing in their heat race and then a fourth-place finish in the repechage. Pricenton's defending NCAA Champion varsity eight took the last semifinal spot in the repechage race, edging out the Huskies by just more than 2.5 seconds.

The UW junior varsity eight had a strong performance this morning, and despite holding fifth place at the halfway point of the race, the Huskies continued to push through. By the 1500-meter mark, Washington had overtaken one spot from Harvard. The Huskies posted the second fastest split time in the final 500 meters and passed conference foe Southern California to take third place with a time of 6:57.39. They will row in the second recpechage tomorrow, which is set to begin at 9:15 a.m. (ET)/6:15 a.m. (PT).

The Husky varsity four rowed hard, but Virginia's early lead was too much for anyone in the field to overcome and the Cavaliers took the race. The Huskies battled with USC's Women of Troy for second place, but ended the 2,000-meter course in third place with a time of 7:50.03. The Huskies will race in the second repechage on Saturday, which is slated to start at 8:45 a.m. (ET)/5:45 a.m. (PT).
