LONDON, England -- Head Coach Chris Finch announced the final 12 players who would be on the Great Britain Senior Men's team as they head into their EuroBasket 2011 qualifying games which tip off Monday night, and Husky senior Matthew Bryan-Amaning was among those on the roster.
Bryan-Amaning has been in his home country since early June training first with the U23 National Team before training with the National Team. He played in five exhibition games with the Senior team where he averaged 10.2 points per game.
Qualifying play begins today around Europe with 15 teams playing for five golden tickets to the EuroBasket 2011 tournament in Lithuania. GB is scheduled to play Hungary this evening in a Group B match up, with tipoff starting at 11:00 a.m. PT.
The top two teams from Group B will advance to EuroBasket 2011. Hungary, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia and Ukraine join Great Britain in the group.
Great Britain's program was formed in 2006 and there is much pressure for them to make a strong showing with the 2012 Olympics in England looming. The Brits will be led by Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng and former NBA player Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
