SEATTLE - It's the middle of the indoor track season, but a handful of Huskies will get to head back outside this weekend, as UW will send a strong contingent to the USA Cross Country Championships in San Diego this Saturday.

Competing in the junior women's race will be Husky freshmen Mackenzie Carter, Katie Flood, Liberty Miller, and Chelsea Orr. The first three on the list all ran for the Huskies at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships, and Flood was named Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year. Orr has made her debut indoors this track season, and won her heat of the women's mile run last week in a time of 4:47.51.

In addition to competing for the national title, the Huskies will also be looking to qualify to represent Team USA at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships March 20 in Punta Umbria, Spain.

The women's 6,000-meter junior race is set for 11:45 a.m. at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.
