SEATTLE -- Washington head women's basketball coach Kevin McGuff has agreed to a contract extension through 2020, according to UW director of athletics Scott Woodward.

McGuff completed his second season at Washington, taking the Dawgs to their second-straight WNIT and winning 20 games in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1993-94 and 1994-95. The terms of the extension were not yet released, but the contract will take McGuff through the 2019-2020 season.

"I am incredibly humbled by the commitment Scott Woodward has shown me, my family and our women's basketball program," said McGuff. "I am also extremely appreciative of the efforts of my staff and our student-athletes in helping create a winning culture. I look forward to continuing the process of building a nationally respected program at the University of Washington."

In the first two seasons under McGuff, Washington has a record of 41-26. This past season, the Dawgs finished fifth in the Pac-12 regular season and advanced to the second round of the Pac-12 Tournament. The Dawgs have played in the WNIT each of the past two years, earning a trip to the quarterfinals last season and the second round this year.

Overall, McGuff is 6-4 in postseason play, including the Pac-12 Tournament and the WNIT.

"In two encouraging years Kevin has revitalized the program while maintaining its high level of achievement off the court, as well," said Woodward. "He has us moving in the direction we sought when we hired him."

"You can see his resolve, his tireless work ethic and his character in his team. It is well on its way to the standard we expect: competing at the highest level of the Pac-12 and the nation."

Individually, McGuff has overseen the development of several players, including Jazmine Davis who has scored more points in her first two seasons than any player in UW history. She was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year a season ago and twice has been named All-Pac-12.

This past season, Washington had a pair of All-Pac-12 players with Davis and Kristi Kingma, while Aminah Williams the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team.

In recruiting, McGuff has netted the program's first two McDonald's All-Americans with Katie Collier in 2012 and Kelsey Plum in 2013. Collier missed all of her freshman season with a knee injury, but should be healthy to join Plum on the court next season with the Huskies.
