TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Tommy Smith had 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead Arizona State to a 89-57 rout of Washington on Thursday night.
Curtis Millage had 16 points and Ike Diogu and Jamal Hill scored 14 apiece for Arizona State (10-4, 2-1 Pac-10), which has beaten the Huskies at home six straight times and 15 times in their last 16 visits to Tempe.
Smith also tied his career high with six blocks and had five assists in the Sun Devils' sixth win in seven games. Diogu pulled down nine rebounds, helping Arizona State to a 47-28 advantage on the glass.
Conroy had five points in the first 1:52 of the second half as Washington, which trailed by 11 points at halftime, cut its deficit to 46-41 on a basket by Mike Jensen 2:19 in.
But Kyle Dodd broke the drought with a driving layup. Then Smith sank a hook shot after one of his six offensive rebounds and passed to Diogu for a dunk, opening a 53-41 lead with 14:57 remaining.
The teams were tied at 13 before Diogu started a 17-5 surge with baseline jumper 7:55 into the game and finished it with a free throw, sending Arizona State to a 30-18 lead with 7:17 left.
After a run by the Huskies, the Sun Devils outscored them 11-6 in the final 5:22 for a 43-32 halftime lead.
