Dawgs Earn Conference Road Win At Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. -- No. 45 Washington made it a road split for the weekend, knocking off No. 75 Colorado, 5-2. The Dawgs improved to 11-9 and 3-6 in the Pac-12 with the victory.

Two days after falling to Utah, Washington battled back to earn a big conference win on the road. The Dawgs began by winning the doubles point as it took two of the three matches. Andjela Nemcevic and Julija Lukac started things off with an 8-4 win at No. 3, while Natali Coronel and Grace Ysidora clinched the point with their 8-6 win at No. 2.

In singles, the Dawgs clinched the win with four quick victories. Ysidora started things off by winning her match at No. 3 over Erin Sanders, 6-1, 6-2. She was followed by Lukac who did not lose a single game on the way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Carla Manzi Tenorio.

Earning the clinching win was Riko Shimizu at No. 6. She defeated Ashley Tiefel in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Lastly, Coronel picked up a win over Mzy Watrous, 6-3, 6-3, to give Washington a 5-0 lead.

The Buffaloes came back to win the final two matches as Nemcevic lost to Julyette Steur, 6-2, 6-2, Elianne Douglas-Miron fell to Dhany Quevedo, 6-4, 6-3.

Next up for the Dawgs is a non-conference match with Sacramento State. Washington hosts the Hornets on Saturday, March 13, at noon.
