KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Quincy Pondexter and Isaiah Thomas were each named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 24 team on Monday. Pondexter earned first team honors, while Thomas was named to the second team.
Pondexter enters this week's NCAA Tournament averaging 19.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and shot 84% from the free throw line and 53.5% from the floor during the season. He ranked second in the Pac-10 in scoring and was honored a record five times as conference player of the week.
Thomas averages 17.1 points and grabs 7.5 rebounds per game and had 11 games with 20-plus points. He set a new record for most points by a UW player in their first two seasons with 1,087.
Both Pondexter and Thomas were named First Team All-Pac-10 and named to the Pac-10 All-Tournament team on Saturday. Thomas also took home honors as the conference's most outstanding player.
The all-district teams are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. The 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m. (EDT) at Bracket TownTM in the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind., during the NABC Convention and NCAA® Final Four®.
