Seattle - The 2004 Washington football season gets underway Thursday, Aug. 12 when the Huskies will hold the first of their scheduled practice sessions at Husky Stadium. On Sunday, Aug. 15 the Huskies will depart Seattle and relocate to Evergreen State College in Olympia for a week of practices (Aug. 16-21). Washington's first five days of practice will only feature one practice to comply with the NCAA's acclimatization period. The Huskies' first two-a-day will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 17. NCAA rules limit the squad size to 105 players until the first game or first day of classes, whichever comes first. The remaining squad members will join the Washington roster after the Huskies' season opener against Fresno State on Sept. 5. The annual Husky Picture Day, sponsored by the Tyee Sports Council, activities are set for Saturday, Aug. 14 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Husky Stadium. This year's picture day will again feature free soft drinks and hot dogs to fans in attendance. Husky schedule posters and schedule cards will be available. In addition to the Husky football team, fans can meet members of Washington's men's and women's soccer teams and the Husky volleyball squad. Washington's annual kickoff luncheon will take place Thursday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. in Dempsey Indoor. Tickets for the event are $30. Tickets may be reserved by calling 206-543-2210.
