SEATTLE - According to the latest national baseball statistical rankings released today by the NCAA, University of Washington junior Shawn Kohn has taken over as the Division I leader with his 0.78 earned run average.

Kohn, a right-hander from Woodinville, took the top spot on the rankings from Dewon Brazelton of Middle Tennessee State, a preseason All-American and member of the U.S. National Team last summer.

Kohn has surrendered only four earned runs in 46 innings this season. He's posted a 4-0 won-lost record and has allowed only 26 hits while striking out 41 and walking only eight. Since moving into the starting rotation four weeks ago, Kohn has yet to allow an earned run in 32 innings of work.

Tonight, when Washington takes on 11-time NAIA champion Lewis-Clark State in a 6:30 p.m. game, Kohn is expected to get some relief work behind probable starter Sean White. Kohn is next scheduled to start this Saturday at Washington State.
