LOWELL, Ore. - This weekend, the men's crew team sent their top four shells to race against Oregon State with high expectations.
After the races were over you could safely say those expectations were met.
In the first race of the day, the UW Men's Varsity Eight pulled through and finished with a time of 6:04.13 seconds. Oregon State finished with a time of 6:29.72
The fastest time of the Covered Bridge Regatta went to the Men's Second Varsity Eight who crossed the finish line with a speedy 5:59.50.
Conditions were mild with variable crosshead wind, which created a light chop on Dexter Lake.
UW also sent out three shells yesterday to face WSU. This regatta was originally scheduled for Saturday but got rescheduled for Friday due to high winds and rain in the forecast. Blue skies and no rain on prevailed on Friday as the Huskies pulled out the sweep against Washington State.
The men's Varsity Eight race was the closest of the day, with UW beating WSU by 11.57 seconds. The other two races, however, were not as close. The Husky Men's Novice Eight finished with a time of 6:01.60, beating Wazzu by over thirty seconds. The Husky Men's Varsity Four finished on top of WSU with a time of 6:58.50.
The Huskies and their coaches cannot help but be pleased with the performances of the team put this weekend. Getting clean sweeps at both WSU and OSU is no easy task, but the Huskies sure made it look that way.
