April 22, 2004
The Washington athletic department's eighth annual Spring Fling will be held Saturday, April 24 on the Husky campus. In addition to the Huskies' annual Spring Football Game, this year's event will feature regular-season baseball and softball contests and a volleyball scrimmage. All of the events are free to the public with the exception of reserved seating at the softball game. Parking is free on campus after noon.
In addition to the live sporting events, the popular Husky Experience for Kids will take place at Husky Stadium from 11 a.m. to noon. Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. The Husky Experience is an interactive clinic involving the members of the Washington football team and sponsored by the Tyee Sports Council. Activities include a 40-yard dash, tackling drills, field goal kicking, passing and punting. The Husky Experience is open to children ages 12 and under. A free t-shirt and lunch will be provided to the first 500 registered children. Registration forms are available at www.gohuskies.com
At 10 a.m. the Husky volleyball team will hold a intra-squad scrimmage in the Hec Edmundson Pavilion Addition to kickoff Spring Fling. The Washington football team's annual Spring Game will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Husky Stadium. Due to injuries that have thinned the offensive line, this year's event will be run as a controlled scrimmage.
At 1 p.m. the Husky baseball team will play host to Arizona at Husky Ballpark in a key Pac-10 Conference matchup. The Husky softball team plays Stanford at 2 p.m.
Fans who attend all four events (volleyball, football, baseball and softball) will be eligible to win special prizes, including an all expenses paid trip for two to Washington's football game at Stanford (Oct. 2) next season courtesy of Northwest Travel.
