SEATTLE - The 2009-10 women's basketball team reported to fall camp Monday, attending team meetings before gearing up for practices, which start on Tuesday.
The Huskies attended a compliance meeting Monday morning and signed all the necessary NCAA forms they are required to sign each year. Head coach Tia Jackson also addressed the team, outlining team policies and her expectations for the 2009-10 season.
Jackson and her staff went over the preseason schedule, including weight-lifting, defensive practices, team yoga and general conditioning workouts. Monday's meeting also included a discussion about the team's new transition offense.
The 2009-10 Huskies will begin the season with a new team mantra, "New year, new team. Expect bigger and better."
"[The mantra] relates to our team workouts, individual time spent working, everything," said Jackson.
Washington's women will engage in team-bonding exercises this fall as well.
"We're eager to get these workouts underway," said Jackson. "We'll work individually and collectively as a group. This year, no one can say we're a young team anymore. We have all veteran players, even our freshmen coming in have a lot of playing experience. I'm excited about what the future looks like this year."
The Huskies open their season with an exhibition against Seattle Pacific at home on Nov. 5. For tickets, log on to GoHuskies.com or call the Husky Ticket office at 206-543-2200.
