Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

SEATTLE - For the second day in a row, the Husky pitching staff allowed just one run over two games as the Washington baseball team swept a doubleheader from Saint Joseph's, 2-1 and 6-0, Sunday at Husky Ballpark.

Sunday's doubleheader was scheduled after a Friday rainout. On Saturday, in a scheduled twinbill, the Huskies, now 9-3 on the season, swept the Hawks, 1-0 and 9-1. Washington has now won six in a row.

As they did in Saturday's first game, the Huskies limited the Hawks to one hit in the opener on Sunday. Starter George Asmus went five innings, allowing an unearned run on the one hit while striking out five. Reliever Nick Palewicz (1-1) worked the final two innings of the seven-inning game, striking out two and walking one for the victory as the Huskies won it with a run in the seventh.

In the second game, junior lefty Mac Acker (2-1) made his first Husky and picked up a win, going five-plus innings, allowing no runs on four hits while fanning five. Tyler Kane worked two scoreless innings in relief and Adam Cimber and Dae Yang Kim pitched one each to complete the shutout.

Husky junior Chase Anselment drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the final inning of the first game and homered in the second. Jacob Lamb contributed a double in each game and scored the winning run in the first.

Saint Joseph's (1-9) scored the first run of the opener in the third inning. Quinn Renner walked to begin the inning. After moving to second on a bunt, he scored on an errant throw on an infield single from Kevin Kratochwill to give the Hawks a 1-0 edge.

Washington scored a run in the fourth to draw even as Anselment walked and eventually came in to score on a two-out, pinch-hit single from freshman Andrew Ely, tying the score at 1-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Husky third baseman Jacob Lamb belted a one-out double into the left-fielder corner. After an infield single from Michael Camporeale put runners at the corners, Anselment hit a fly ball to right field. The throw to the plate to get Lamb wasn't handled cleanly, allowing the run to score on the sacrifice fly and giving the Huskies the victory.

SJU reliever Lansing Veeder (0-1) took the loss in game one, allowing one run on two hits.

In the second game, Washington jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning. Anselment singled and Trevor Mitsui walked to begin the inning. Catcher B.K. Santy then laid down a bunt and the pitcher's throw to first sailed down the right-field line, allowing Anselment to score. Later in the inning, a single from Joe Meggs drove in Mitsui.

In the sixth, the Hawks threatened, getting runners to second and third with one out, but Kane struck out the next two SJU hitters to end the inning with the 2-0 lead in tact.

In the bottom of the sixth, Anselment belted his first homer of the season, a solo shot to deep left-center, to make it a 3-0 lead. Later in the sixth, two-out RBI singles from Caleb Brown and Meggs tacked on two more to up the advantage to 5-0.

In the seventh, Anselment drove in another with a sacrifice fly.

Jordan Carter (0-1) took the game-two loss for the Hawks, allowing three earned runs on six hits in his five and one-third innings. Kratochwill went 4-for-4 in the nightcap, accounting for all but one of the Hawks' hits on the day.

Washington's next games come next weekend in a three-game series vs. Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Huskies return home for a single game March 13 vs. Portland followed by the first Pac-12 series of the year, March 16-18 vs. Oregon.
