Huskies Climb to Eighth at Preview Behind Prugh's 68

Sunriver, OR - Behind the play of junior Alex Prugh, the Husky men's golf team moved up to a tie with Duke for eighth-place after the second round of play at the PING/Golfweek Fall Preview at the Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore. Washington posted an even par score of 288 during the second round of the three-day tournament to move up four spots on the leaderboard.

The Huskies were led by Prugh who posted a 4-under 68 during the second round to move up to seventh in the standings at 1-under 141. He is one shot behind senior teammate James Lepp, who fired a 2-under 70 for the second consecutive day. Lepp is four shots behind Georgia freshman Brian Harmon, who enters Wednesday's final round with a one shot lead at 8-under 136.

Georgia shot 4-under 284 for the second straight day to take a 10-shot lead over rival Georgia Tech for the team title. Oklahoma State had the low team score of the day with a 283 and is third at 580 overall.

Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin made the biggest move of the day and is tied for second along with Wake Forest's Webb Simpson at 137. Martin began his round with five consecutive birdies. He carded four birdies on his back nine to match the Crosswater Club course record of 64.

Husky junior Erik Olson shot 72 to move up to 40th overall after posting a 79 in the opening round. Joe Panzeri is 63rd at 155 while Sterling Clark is 69th at 157.

The 17th PING/Golfweek Preview features the top 14 team finishers at the 2005 NCAA Championships as well as the University of Portland, which will serve as host of the 2006 NCAA Championships held at Crosswater on May 31-June 3.
