SEATTLE - The University of Washington announced today that the Husky football team will play Boise State in a home-and-home series in 2013 and 2015.
The Huskies and Broncos will play the first game at a newly-renovated Husky Stadium to open the 2013 season, on Sept. 7, 2013. The UW will then travel to Boise for the return game on Sept. 19, 2015.
"Historically, the Huskies at Husky Stadium have taken on great opponents," Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian said. "And not just in the Pac-10 - now going to be the Pac-12 - but in the nonconference schedule, as well. Having the first game at Husky Stadium against Boise State is something special."
Washington and Boise State have only played one another once before as the Huskies beat the Broncos, 24-10, on Sept. 8, 2007, at Husky Stadium.
With this announcement, the UW now has a complete slate of non-conference games in 2011 and 2012, but still have one spot to fill for the 2013 schedule. Next season, the UW will host Eastern Washington and Hawai'i before traveling to face Nebraska. In 2012, when the Huskies will play their home season at Qwest Field, they play home games vs. Portland State and Nevada and a road game at LSU.
In 2013, after opening vs. Boise State, the Huskies travel to Illinois. A third non-conference game has yet to be arranged. Other future non-conference schedules: at Hawai'i, home vs. Eastern Washington and Illinois in 2014; home vs. Sacramento State and at Hawai'i and Boise State in 2015. Additionally, Washington announced in 2009 that it will face Wisconsin in 2017 (at Madison) and 2018 (at Seattle).
The Pac-12 Conference schedule for all seasons beyond 2011 has yet to be announced by the conference office.
