NOTE: Check back here later Thursday for report from the afternoon UW football practice.
Join the Huskies for one of the UW's great annual traditions, Picture Day, this Sunday, Aug. 15, at Husky Stadium. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free.
Picture Day, which takes place on the stadium field, gives fans the opportunity to meet, take photos with and get autographs from every member of the UW football team, as well as the volleyball and men's and women's soccer teams.
Along with that, fans will be treated to free hot dogs, chips and sodas (thanks to Sodexo) and free doughnuts from Top Pot. Members of the Husky Marching Band and the Cheer Squad will also be on hand.
Fans who haven't yet purchased season tickets for the 2010 season can check out which seats are still available as the Husky Ticket Office will hold a Select-A-Seat event. For more on UW football season tickets, click here.
Picture Day runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please note that the autograph lines for Jake Locker and Coach Sarkisian will be closed at 12 noon, so that everyone in line can make their way to the front before Picture Day ends.
THURSDAY PRACTICE: Another physical practice greeted fans at Husky Stadium. Even though the team practiced in just "shells," coaches had to continually remind the student-athletes not to take their teammates to the ground with tackles. A few bright spots during the 11-on-11 drills came when Locker feathered a pass to Cody Bruns on the sideline between two defenders. Linebacker Victor Burnett drew a big reaction as well with a hard hit on tailback Demitrius Bronson. It was "Throwback Thursday" at Fall Camp, a nod to the old-school music pumped through the speakers. Coach Sarkisian made requests through his Twitter page the day before, and said the song that got the biggest response from the players/coaches was Journey, "Don't Stop Believing." ... Talia Crichton sat out the team portion of practice today with what Sarkisian termed as a mild knock/bruise on the knee. Tight end Evan Hudson will miss about a week with a sprained shoulder ... Former Dawgs coach Jim Lambright was a visitor at Husky Stadium, as was former quarterback Brock Huard ... The Huskies will practice in full pads for the first time this fall on Friday. But as Sarkisian noted to the media after practice on Thursday, the intensity will always be a consistent factor ... Sarkisian also announced the team would scrimmage on Tuesday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 21. There will be some light scrimmaging as well this Saturday, Aug. 14 during the night portion.
