Box Score

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team took an early lead and never lost it as the Tigers avoided a series sweep with a 7-4 win over Washington Sunday at Klein Family Field.

Husky senior Elliott Cribby (1-1) suffered the loss for the Huskies, who dropped to 4-4 with the loss. Cribby gave up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits over five innings. Pacific starter Corey Kohnke (1-0) picked up the win with six innings of work in his first college start. Releiver Thomas Berolzheimer struck out six in three innings for the save.

A two-out error opened the door for the Tigers (2-5) in the first. After UW shortstop Pierce Rankin committed a throwing error with two down, Mike McKeever and Mike Walker connected on back-to-back RBI doubles, giving Pacific a 2-0 lead after one inning.

In the third, the UW got on the board when senior right fielder Andy Lentz led off with his second home run in as many games, cutting the Tigers lead to 2-1. However, in the fourth, Pacific's J.B. Brown tripled to send home a run, making it at 3-1 lead.

The Tigers then stretched their advantage to six runs with a four-run fifth inning that featured a hit batter, a walk, a double, a sacrifice fly and four singles.

Washington answered with a three-run sixth inning. Bradley Boyer doubled to lead off and scored on a single from Ty Rasmussen. After a walk, a two-run double from catcher Joey Dunn drove in two more runs, cutting the lead to 7-4.

The Dawgs open a 14-game homestand next weekend when Cal Poly visits Husky Stadium for a three-game series. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Fans can listen to all Husky games for free on the Dawg Channel at gohuskies.com.
