Washington vs Oregon State

Coach Tia Jackson
Opening Statement: "I thought the kids really came out especially in the second half and turned it up twenty notches. I don't think we had the energy in the first half; they were outrebounding us, they were being more aggressive, we were fouling too much. The second half was just a whole different story, we went out there and really committed to defense, boxing out and making things happen. These two [Laura McLellan and Sami Whitcomb] had a nice thing going with Laura inside in the key. With our post players in foul trouble it was nice to find one that could finally get in the rhythm. This one here [Sami Whitcomb] did a nice one of attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line. Really happy for the girls."
On Second Half Spark: "I think when Charmaine [Barlow] came into the game she brought a different kind of energy and that is really her role for us. She came in and really helped to turn that notch up a little higher. When we started making substitutions those guys just turned it up that much more and Charmaine was definitely at the head of that."
On Conference Seeding Implications: "Try not to tell the players that kind of stuff and just make us focus on the things that we're always focused on. The coaches know that stuff but I try and keep the players focused on the things they can control - the game. We can't control anything Arizona does and we can't control what UCLA does, but what we can control is what we do."
Senior Laura McLellan On was said at halftime: "We knew that we weren't playing very well and we were down one. All we had to do was come out and execute and get some good stops, only the things we can control like boxing out and getting rebounds."
Senior Sami Whitcomb
On her last game being Sunday: "I am excited about it. Its a lot of build up for this game and what this win will do for us when it comes to winning out, finishing out, and setting a tone for next year and into the NCAA tournament. I am just going to be really excited about it.
On the sophomores stepping up today:
"I feel like they have been doing that every year for us. Whenever we have needed points or rebounds, or people filling in for the Sara Mosiman's. We have always had the younger players step up and battle for us and do the little things we need them to do."
