WASHINGTON VS. OREGON STATE COACH June Daugherty QUOTES

General Comments: Well that had to be one of the strangest senior days that I've ever been a part of in twenty-some years. I guess it started two games ago with people being sick and to have your leading scorer out, Cameo Hicks, and then to have Kayla call you and say Coach I don't know if I want to come to senior day and you're thinking What? With everything she's been through. Hopefully we can get through it, get over it, and get on our way to the Bay Area trip. It's the quickest flu I've ever seen happen in all my days and I hope the fans don't get it it comes on pretty quick! Despite all that I just thought our kids showed a lot of guts, there were times tonight where I was looking at kids, like Jill Bell she looked like she was trying to keep it down because she was feeling sick, but she wanted to fight through it and play for the team and I think we were in that situation with a lot of our kids. We got down and did what we do and that's play defense and rebound and we were able to keep the tempo the way we like it.

On flu going around: This flu is so contaigious that they want anyone who has it to stay away. That's why they had Cameo and Kayla sitting up high because they just want to try and isolate anyone who has it. Jones was getting sick at the end of the game and Bell. Normally you have one or two kids but when you have four or five and one of your staff it's a little tough, but our kids showed a lot of guts. They wanted to send the seniors out with a win and they did so that was a real accomplishment for us.

On Kristen O'Neill: I walked up to her early in the back and we did some scout before the game. I told her I'm going to put you up in the starting line-up, Cameo isn't ready to go and she just had a big smile on her face. As usual Kristen is just thinking whatever it takes I'll do it and she had a great game. We were trying to rotate kids quite a bit just because of the fatigue and the illness. Whenever I thought Kristen was getting a little bit tired she reminded me that she'd play 40 minutes, especially for senior night.

Kristen O'Neill On this being your last home game: It was just a lot of fun to play in front of all of my friends and family and the Seattle community. It was really special and it was nice to be able to contribute on both ends of the floor.

On stepping up for Cameo Hicks: Well she brings a lot of offense to the floor so I knew I had to step up but that's what I've been trying to do all year. I was just trying to do what my team needed me to do but she'll be back and everyone will get healthy so we'll be ready to go!
