Washington Head Coach Lorenzo Romar
"This tournament was great for our team. We came up empty-handed and we don't have a win to show for it. But, it was great for our team to play against high-level competition. We made big strides from last night to today, which is evidenced in out 23 assists - which has been unheard of from our team. We shared the ball. We had better shot selection. Justin Dentmon really helped us in that he got us going early. He hit some big shots. I thought our team made progress. Florida is a hard team to defend.
(On Jon Brockman's final 11 minutes of the game) "He did a great job. Our guys did a great job of getting him the basketball. Darnell Gant, I thought, played an exceptional game. He had limited numbers, but I thought he helped Jon a little. Our guys did a good job of spacing and getting Jon the basketball. He was very efficient.
(Did the Kansas game help the team develop?) "I don't think there is any doubt in my mind that we needed Kansas. (The loss) was unfortunately and is not what we would have asked for. But, the way that we were beaten by Kansas made it crystal-clear in our guys' minds that we needed to slow down, share the basketball and play together.
"In the beginning, we did a good job, then closer to halftime we turned the ball over and it allowed them to get away from us a little bit. In the second half, once we settled down, we started to get some layups."
Washington senior forward Jon Brockman
"(The referees) were calling it close up top, but they were letting us bang down low a little bit. I've been on the other side, where you feel the refs never should decide the game and let the players decide it. They did a real good job of (refereeing) tonight. I thought (the last shot) was going in, but it came up a little short."
Washington freshman guard Isaiah Thomas
"This one hurts a little more (than Kansas). It came down to the clutch and we had the game. I'm proud of my teammates. We showed that we could come together as one. We just need to get better. No, I don't (practice missing free throws). It was hard. I had to miss it to the left so (Jon) Brockman could get it. He got it, but it was just a little too deep."
