WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington's track and field teams enjoyed another excellent season in the classroom this year, with thirty-four student-athletes earning recognition today as the Pac-12 announced its All-Academic selections. The Huskies had seven more selections than a year ago, and placed five on either the first or second teams. Seven of the Husky honorees were NCAA West Preliminary Championship competitors.

To be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic team, athletes must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and be in their second year of residence at their current school.

Making the First Team this year is junior Christine Babcock and junior Ally Mueller. Both are on the First Team for the second year in a row. Babcock, who made the 1,500-meter quarterfinals in a big comeback year on the track, carries a 3.94 grade point average majoring in Early Childhood and Family Studies. Mueller, who tosses the javelin, majors in Biochemistry while maintaining a 3.91 GPA.

The men placed three athletes on the Second Team. Junior Jimmy Brookman, fresh off a 15th-place finish in the javelin in his first career NCAA finals, makes the team for the second year in a row with a 3.46 GPA in Accounting. Junior Dan Sanders moves up from honorable mention a year ago. The hurdler has a 3.50 cumulative mark in Computer Engineering. Senior Charlie Williams, one of the distance runner captains, also made the Second Team with a 3.52 GPA majoring in Biology.

Ten more Husky men earned honorable mention, and 19 women picked up honorable mention.
