SEATTLE - Oregon State ace Scott Nicholson held the Washington baseball team to only one run on seven hits in a complete game, leading the Beavers to a 9-1 win over the Huskies in a Pac- 10 game Saturday at Husky Ballpark.
Nicholson improved to 10-2 on the year with his ninth complete game. He walked only one while striking out four. OSU improved to 29-19 overall and 9-9 in the Pac-10 with the win while Washington dropped to 26-16 and 6-11.
In the first, Nicholson allowed his lone run as UW third baseman Michael Done singled home Jay Garthwaite to give the Huskies a short-lived lead. In the top of the second, OSU went on top for good when Chris Biles drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single.
Biles finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBI as he drove in another pair of runs in the seventh with a single. Catcher Bryan Ingram also went 3-for-5 for the Beavers, scoring three times and driving in one. Second baseman Zach Gordon hit the only home run of the game, a solo shot in the ninth.
The two teams will hook up for the rubber match Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Husky Ballpark.
