SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Washington football team arrived in San Antonio Friday evening, and will begin preparation for the Valero Alamo Bowl Saturday.
The Huskies take on Baylor next Thursday, Dec. 29, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The game will air live on ESPN television, espn3.com, the Washington IMG Radio Network (with flagship station KJR 950-AM and 102.9 FM) and ESPN Radio (nationally).
The Huskies had taken the last three days off since a five-day stretch of practices wrapped up Monday morning.
The players and staff reconvened Friday morning at Alaska Airlines Arena, where buses took them to SeaTac Airport for a three-and-a-half hour charter flight to San Antonio.
Once on the ground, the team arrived at the hotel around 6:00 p.m., with time for some dinner prior to a team meeting later in the evening.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian, as well as captains Jermaine Kearse and Alameda Ta'amu stopped to chat with the local media. Alamo Bowl officials, who were waiting for the Huskies at the hotel for their official greeting, noted that there was a larger press contingent awaiting the Huskies than any team ever from outside of the state of Texas.
Check the video below for a little of what Coach Sarkisian had to say to the San Antonio media.
