Sept. 16, 2005

Seattle - The Washington men's and women's golf teams and golfers have drawn high praise from two national golf publications in their preseason polls.

After finishing third at the 2005 NCAAs and watching James Lepp rally on the final day to win the individual crown in a three-hole playoff, the Husky men's golf team is picked fifth in GolfWorld's preseason poll and figure ninth in Golfweek's preseason standings.

Lepp is listed as the No. 6 player on GolfWorld's Top-10 list while he figures fifth in Golfweek's preview, making him a preseason first-team All-American.

The Husky women are ranked sixth in the Golfweek preseason rankings and are eighth in GolfWorld's poll. Husky senior Paige Mackenzie, who was 10th at the 2005 NCAAs, is ranked as the No. 2 player in the nation by both publications.
