The Husky Track & Field Program invites all track and field alumni to Husky Stadium on May 6 for the third-annual Ken Shannon Invitational track and field meet and alumni banquet.

Renamed in 2004 to honor legendary head coach Ken Shannon, the meet is a highlight of the Huskies' 2006 schedule, marking the final opportunity to earn qualifying marks for the Pac-10 Championships, while also showcasing some of the Northwest's top young track and field talent.

In addition, the post-meet Washington Track and Field Alumni Banquet has become a favorite event for UW's current and former track stars, allowing Washington's distinguished alumni and their families the opportunity to share memories of their historic careers and mingle with the current UW team, while celebrating the legacy of Hall of Fame head coach Ken Shannon.

This year's banquet will also honor the 30-year anniversary of the Fab Four's - Scott Neilson, Borys Chambul, Rob Ewaliko & Russ Vincent - sweep of the throwing events at the 1976 Pac-10 Championships, a feat never before accomplished, and never since repeated.

All four members of the "Fab Four" will be present for what will certainly be a memorable evening for all in attendance.

This year's banquet will recognize Scott Neilson, Rod Ewaliko, Borys Chambul and Russ Vincent, who swept Pac-10 throwing titles in 1976.

Not all the excitement will be confined to the banquet, however. Washington's men's track and field team - fresh off a victory at the MPSF Indoor Championships and an upset of seventh-ranked Oregon in Eugene - is primed for big things at the Pac-10 Championships, May 13-14 in Eugene, Ore., while the UW women boast All-America candidates in every event area, and will certainly be a factor at the conference meet as well.
