CORVALLIS - The Washington baseball team extended its winning streak to seven games Wednesday with its second straight 9-5 win over Oregon State in the second game of a two-game, non-conference series at Goss Stadium.

The Huskies, who trailed 3-0 and 5-3 in the game, scored three in the sixth and three in the eighth to pull out the win. The UW improved to 11-6 on the year while OSU fell to 9-9.

Husky senior Tila Reynolds, playing with or against two younger brothers -- UW freshman center fielder Simi and OSU junior DH Kerisi -- went 2-for-3 in the game, scoring two runs, driving in two and walking twice. Second baseman Nick Batkoski, making only his second start of the season, went 2-for-5 with a three RBIs.

Oregon State scored the game's first run when left fielder Seth Pietsch led off the second inning with his fifth home run of the season. The Beavers added two more in the inning, taking advantage of the first error of UW first baseman Kyle Larsen's career. Larsen, a sophomore, had successfully fielded 621 chances before making the error.

With runners at first and second, Chris Biles grounded a double-play ball to Larsen, who seemingly looked to throw to second before getting the ball in his glove and had it get past him into right field. Jacoby Ellsbury, who had singled, scored from second on the play while Tony Calderon moved to third. Catcher Billy Munich grounded into a double play, allowing Calderon to score and giving the Beavers a 3-0 lead.

The Huskies scored a run in the third when Tila Reynolds singled, stole second and scored on a single from Batkoski.

In the fifth, with runners at first and second and one out, Reynolds drove in a second UW run with a single. An RBI groundout from Batkoski tied the game at 3-3.

The Beavers, however, took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth. UW starter Clay Johnson got an out and then walked two batters. As the Huskies brought in freshman reliever Matt Kasser, a brief rain delay held things up. Kasser hit Rob Recuenco with a pitch to load the bases and then walked Kerisi Reynolds and Andy Jarvis to force in two runs. Kasser ended the inning without any more runs coming across, striking out Pietsch and getting Ellsbury to ground out.

The pendulum swung back the other way in the sixth. With one out, Taylor Johnson singled and moved to third on an Aaron Hathaway double. Chad Boudon's single scored Johnson and John Otness reached when his line drive hit an umpire, resulting in a single with the runner at third having to stay put. With the bases loaded, reliever Kenny Anderson delivered a wild pitch, allowing Hathaway to score a run to tie the game at 5-5.

Anderson walked Simi Reynolds to reload the bases and was relieved by Kurt Steele. Steele walked Tila Reynolds to force in a run, giving the Huskies a 6-5 lead, but then got the next two batters to pop out to end the inning.

The Huskies extended their lead to 9-5 with three runs in the eighth on RBIs from Batkoski, Larsen and Mike Wagner.

Kasser (1-0), making only his second collegiate appearance, got the win despite working only two-thirds of an inning. Senior Scott Robertson held the Beavers to only one hit and struck out four over the final four innings to earn his first save of the season. For the second straight day, Anderson (1-2) suffered the loss.

The Huskies return to Husky Ballpark this weekend for their final three home games of March. The UW takes on Cal State Northridge in a three-game series beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The 1:00 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday will both air on KKNW AM-1150.
