Box Score

LOS ANGELES - Kyle Conley hit two home runs and Brett Wilcox had a home run and six runs batted in as the Washington baseball team beat USC, 10-2, Saturday in a Pac-10 game at Dedeaux Field.

The Huskies (27-16 overall, 7-7 in the Pac-10) also won Friday and will go for a series sweep Sunday. USC fell to 21-24 overall and 7-10 in the conference.

Conley, a redshirt-sophomore from Richland, hit a solo homer in the second and a two-run shot in the fifth. Friday in the series opener, he went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a triple. He finished Saturday's game 2-for-3 with two walks. Wilcox, a junior from Bothell, hit a three-run homer in the third, a run-scoring single in the sixth and a two-run double in the eighth, finishing 3-for-5.

Bradley Boyer also added three hits and Andy Lentz went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the UW.

Washington took a lead in the top of the second when Conley led off with a homer to straightaway center field. It was the 11th of the season for Conley.

But USC answered in the bottom of the second when Keith Castillo hit a one-out solo shot to center, tying the score at 1-1.

In the third, the Huskies used the longball once again to move back on top. After a walk to Michael Burgher and a bloop single from Jake Rife, Wilcox belted the first pitch he saw long over the right-field fence, his fourth of the season, to put the UW on top, 4-1.

In the fifth, Husky first baseman Aaron Russell was hit in the helmet with a pitch, forcing him from the game, though he remained conscious and walked off under his own power. With pinch runner Troy Scott on in Russell's place, Conley launched a towering home run the opposite way to right field, increasing the lead to 6-1.

USC narrowed the gap to 6-2 in the bottom of the sixth as Nick Buss' sacrifice fly drove in Mike O'Neill.

Wilcox capped his day in the eighth when he knocked a two-run, two-out double down the right-field line. In the ninth, Lentz drove in a run with a double.

Sophomore Cam Nobles (4-3) earned the win. In five innings, he allowed two runs on five hits. Paul Dickey held the Trojans scoreless over the final four innings for his fifth save. USC starter Brad Boxberger (2-4) suffered the loss. In his five innings, he gave up six runs on six hits.

The series concludes Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. game, which will be broadcast on the internet at gohuskies.com.
