LOS ANGELES - Everything about Washington's shootaround was crisp this afternoon, almost 10 hours shy of the team's game with Oregon State at the Galen Center later tonight (8:15 pm). The Huskies spent 45 minutes practicing on an auxiliary floor of the Galen Center (decorated with posters of former USC players dunking on various Pac-10 players) before making the switch and moving over to the main floor. One aspect of the Galen Center that we had not noticed was the open layout and windows, which filled the arena with light. On the way back from practice, our bus honked at the cavalcade of Huskies fans making their way from the ESPN Zone to the Staples Center, where our men's team will play tonight as well.
Afterwards, the team had several hours to kill but was warned against napping too much. The team will reconvene at 4 for lunch, held in the private dining rooms the Marriott has provided for each team. Throughout the hotel, the Huskies bumped into players from the other Pac-10 teams; it's almost impossible not to. A few staff members ventured out for lunch, making a dash over to the famed Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles on W. Pico Street in Los Angeles.
For tonight, fans can follow the game in a variety of ways. Steve Sandmeyer and Elise Woodward will have the call at 1150 AM KKNW, or you can surf over to Pac-10.org and check out a live stream. If neither option is available, you can follow our live feed on Twitter, where continual game updates are provided.
