SEATTLE - With fall camp over and the transition to the first game week of the season underway, GoHuskies.com sat down briefly a couple of days ago with two Husky veterans to hear what they had to say about their side of the ball and how fall camp went for them.

First up is wide receiver D'Andre Goodwin, the Pac-10's top returning receiver in terms of catches per game last year. Here's what Goodwin had to say.

gohuskies.com: How is the offense coming along?
DG: It looks great. Everybody's flying around, making plays, looking good. We've got great coaches so everything's looking good.

gohuskies.com: How has the mindset of the receiving corps changed during the course of spring and fall practice?
DG: We're more disciplined. We pay attention to every detail on the field and we're learning new things. Everybody's moving forward. We're hungry.

gohuskies.com: What have you seen out of quarterback Jake Locker this fall?
DG: I see a big change. He's making a lot of check down reads instead of going for deep passes when he has pressure. We have a great coaching staff and when we make mistakes they get on us. Everybody's getting better.

gohuskies.com: Are you thinking about the LSU game?
DG: Well, yeah. That's human nature. It's been in the back of my mind but I tried to focus on the day-to-day stuff. I look at this day, go hard this day, and I take everything day by day.

Next is sophomore cornerback Quinton Richardson, a returning starter from Seattle's O'Dea High. Here are a few thoughts from Richardson:

gohuskies.com: How did things go, generally, for the defense this fall?
QR: We progressed a lot. There were a lot of new plays. I feel like everyone is getting the fundamentals down and incorporating everything. We're looking good, and we're moving as one.

gohuskies.com: How has the defense grown during the fall?
QR: We're looking good. We made some changes compared to last year as far as play-wise and stuff like that. I think with this new defense, the biggest thing so far has been the camaraderie of the group. Everyone believes in the defense. Even from people outside looking in, they can see it's a lot better.

gohuskies.com: How have you progressed as a cornerback?
QR: I'm still learning, and I still have a lot of things to get better on. I have some experience now, but I know that I have to keep working and keep getting better.

gohuskies.com: What are you impressions of defensive coordinator Nick Holt?
QR: I love Coach Holt. He's that one coach that's not going to hide anything. He's going to tell you what's on his mind and what he thinks of you, and I appreciate it a lot. He pushes me and he's going to get us better. I believe in his scheme and what he wants a corner to do and if I keep buying into it, I'm going to perfect it.
