Sunriver, OR - The ninth-ranked Washington men's golf team finished eighth at the PING/Golfweek Fall Preview played at the Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore. The tournament featured nine of the top-10 ranked teams in the nation.
The Huskies were led by the top-10 finishes of junior Alex Prugh and senior James Lepp. Prugh was fifth overall at 6-under 210 while Lepp tied for ninth at 3-under 213. Prugh carded rounds of 73, 68 and 69 while Lepp shot 70, 70 and 73.
Georgia freshman Brian Harmon tied Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin for medalist honors at 9-under 205. Georgia, the defending NCAA Champion, shot a tournament best single-round score of 9-under 277 Wednesday to run away with the team title by 15 strokes. The Bulldogs finished at 17-under 845. Georgia Tech was second at 860. The Huskies shot 876.
Prugh's finish marked the second straight tournament he has led the Huskies in scoring. He was fourth at Minnesota's Gopher Invitational to help UW tie for top honors. It was the seventh top-10 outing for both Prugh and Lepp during their Husky careers.
Erick Olson posted a 71, his best round of the tournament, Wednesday to move up to 32nd at 222. He shot 79 in the opening round and 72 on Tuesday. Joe Panzeri was 67th at 233 and Sterling Clark was 69 at 234.
The Huskies will travel to the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge Oct. 3-4. This year's event will take place at The Glen Club in Glenview, Ill. Last year Prugh placed second in the event that was held at Bandon Dunes. The Huskies were sixth in the 14-team field.
